New SPECapc Benchmark: Assessing System Performance for PTC Creo 9 Users

The SPECapc for Creo 9 benchmark is a newly developed performance evaluation software tailored for systems operating PTC Creo 9, a robust 3D CAD solution empowering engineers to conceptualize, design, analyze, and validate products efficiently.

The benchmark comprises eight workflows, divided into three CPU and five GPU tests, which thoroughly assess all aspects of system performance when running Creo 9. The assessment generates composite scores, focusing on graphics, CPU, and I/O performance, while GPU scores are also calculated specifically for graphics display modes used in Creo 9.

Notable updates in the SPECapc for PTC Creo 9 benchmark encompass the incorporation of models supporting Creo 9, introduction of new test cases, and updates to existing CPU and GPU test cases. Among the new and updated models are the Submarine Model and the World Car Model, while the Render Studio, Clipping, and Mass Properties tests have also received updates.

The application workflows encompass a variety of CPU and GPU tests, such as Explode & Section Models, Regeneration, Retessellation, Mass Properties Analysis, CPU Rendering in Render Studio, and CPU Convert for exporting to IGES Format. Additionally, graphics display modes like Shaded Graphics, Shaded Edge Graphics, Shaded Reflection Graphics, No Hidden Graphics, and Hidden Graphics are included in the benchmark.

Composite scores for the SPECapc Creo 9 benchmark are computed to gauge GPU and CPU performance, with sub-scores recorded for individual tests. The scoring is normalized based on a reference machine to ensure a relative scoring system where higher scores denote better performance. The reference machine utilized for normalization boasts the following specifications:
