The goal is the total integration of Kia and Hyundai into one organization, to create the world’s fourth largest auto manufacturer.
PTC has successfully completed the first phase of deployment for its enterprise product life cycle management (PLM) system at Hyundai Motor Company and Kia Motors Corporation (HMC/KMC). This is an ongoing project. HMC/KMC has chosen PTC’s Windchill for their PLM system which, they hope will enable them to consolidate multiple systems. The company is undergoing a transition as it combines Korea’s two large Automotive companies, Hyundai and Kia to create the world’s fourth largest automotive manufacturer.
HMC/KMC is building a PLM system to develop a system of record for the complete vehicle. It will accommodate all the data from a variety of design systems including Catia and PTC’s Creo (formerly Pro/Engineer). The system will support concurrent product development and keep up with the company’s rapidly changing vehicle requirements and change management requests. In addition, the Korean car company is basing a new a DMU, digital mock-up, environment on Windchill.
With this first phase completed on schedule, the companies will began phase 2.
