In the war of wins, Siemens NX has logged a stylish one with Aston Martin. The luxury car maker is standardizing on Siemens’ NX for design, manufacture and analysis, and Teamcenter for PLM.
The deal has been in the works, and the possibility has been bruited around for months now. Previously, Aston Martin was on I-DEAS. According to Siemens, Aston Martin has been in the process of conducting competitive evaluations for 2 years. The grapevine has it that Aston Martin was finding Catia V6 too complicated and was hesitant about the closely linked relationship of Catia V6 and Dassault’s Enovia V6 PLM. In several of these wins we’re seeing Teamcenter help clinch the argument.
There are several closely watched evaluations going on in the Automotive industry. PTC has just announced their win with Hyundai Motor Co. and Kia Motors Corporation and in November, Daimler announced that it is going with Siemens.
Correction: This article previously stated that Aston Martin had been using Catia. This is not true. Aston Martin was using I-DEAS. We were contacted by a couple of readers to set the record straight. We regret the error.
