Lattice releases update to XVL Studio

Lattice is known for its speed in displaying and manipulating very large manufacturing assemblies. Included in this release is new support for the JT Open standard.

Lattice Technology releases an update to XVL Studio, its software for digital mockup and technical visual communications. Lattice is also the technology supplier to Dassault Systèmes for the 3D XML visualization technology used throughout the Dassault product line.

XVL Studio 10.0 includes a number of new features and enhancements for digital mockup process planning, work instruction authoring, and technical documentation. Improvements have been made across the product including the user interface, file import/export, working with eBOM/mBOM/sBOM, creating work instructions, and technical illustrations.

XVL Studio employs Lattice’s Ultra Large Data Handling (ULDH) technology, which can compress, mock-up, and display very large manufacturing assemblies. We have seen ULDH used to whip through views of a large commercial airliner on an underpowered notebook computer as if it were a JPG file.

In related news, Lattice Technology recently became a Vendor Member in the JT Open Program, announcing support for the 3D JT data format. The JT format originated with what is now Siemens PLM Software, but has been moved to an open standards format managed by an industry committee, similar to the process that now controls updates to the PDF standard originally owned by Adobe.

New and improved features of XVL Studio 10.0 include:

User Interface Improvements: Customized toolbars, enhanced drag and drop from Assembly Tree to Process and Disassembly Trees for faster mBOM and sBOM creation.

Auto Update Enhancements: Additional controls for flexibility in handling design changes and part modifications.

Digital Mock Up: Improved visibility for clearance and interference checks, saving part layouts in Annotation View and options to fix dimension text positions for easier collaboration.

Process Design Export: Equipment and tools list, addition of trace lines to work instructions output, user defined event controls for process animation, define and display text alerts during process animation.

Illustration and Parts List: Updated find and filter options, export raster image with SVG, improved control for exported image visibility.

Concurrent with the release of XVL Studio 10.0, Lattice Technology is also releasing new versions of XVL Player and XVL BOM Assembler. All updates are available free of charge to maintenance customers. XVL Studio 10.0 can be tried out as part of the Product Trial available from Lattice Technology (www.lattice3d.com).
