3D Systems (DDD: NYSE) today acquired Rapid Product Development Group (RPDG), a provider of on-demand additive fabrication and traditional manufacturing services. The purchase price was not disclosed.

Privately held RPDG is based in San Diego and has more than 350 employees in the US, Mexico, China, and the UK. It offers various industrial 3D printing services as well as traditional prototyping and parts manufacturing services.

3D Systems says it will quickly integrate the acquired firm’s capabilities into its Quickparts service business.

Because of the immediate additional income from the purchase, 3D Systems is raising its 2013 revenue guidance to between $460 million and $510 million, a bump of $20 million on the low end.
