Jon Peddie Research reports that the global client CPU market expanded, increasing 9.4% in Q2’26, more than seasonality would predict from last quarter, while client CPU shipments declined a modest -1.1% year over year.

Q2 is typically down due to seasonality, as OEMs and the retail channels try to get rid of leftover holiday inventory and make way for the new products. Intel’s 18A improvements + strength in server CPUs (likely networking/storage) allowed them to deliver a very good data center quarter.
AMD’s upward server trend continues in units and revenue.
The overall server CPU market increased by 8% quarter to quarter and by 22% year to year.
