AutoCAD WS for iPhone & iPad Now Available

A new iPhone/iPad application for viewing AutoCAD DWG files is now available for download at the Apple iTunes App Store.

Autodesk has released AutoCAD WS for iPhone/iPad. The free app allows users to view, edit, and share DWG files.

AutoCAD WS on the iOS is a cloud-based application. To use a file on the mobile device, it must first be uploaded to an online AutoCAD WS workspace. Once downloaded to the iPod/iPhone, Autodesk says all aspects of a DWG file can be viewed, including external references, layers, and image underlays. iOS multi-touch features can be used to zoom and pan through the drawing.

Editing features include the ability to tap to select an object, which can then be moved, rotated, or scaled. Snap and Ortho modes are available for drawing or editing. Text may be added or edited. Once edited, the revision can be uploaded back to the online AutoCAD WS workspace.

GraphicSpeak is scheduled to speak with an Autodesk representative tomorrow; we expect more news about this product line.
