Start-up 3D streaming infrastructure provider Miris is expanding its spatial streaming platform to include glTF intake, as it ingests high-quality assets and streams them quickly, adaptively, and at the user-needed fidelity. Previously, the system only accepted OpenUSD as a supported intake format.

Miris takes an atypical approach to 3D asset delivery. Instead of users having to download complete assets or rent cloud GPUs to render frames remotely, Miris uses adaptive spatial streaming that reconstructs the data for end-user devices in real time.
“glTF has been the practical delivery format for real-time and Web 3D for years, but teams routinely have to shrink files to load them fast enough. The version users see trades fidelity for delivery speed,” said Miris CTO Sean Looper. “This update lets teams bring those assets to Miris at the fidelity they authored,” instead of decimating geometry and textures in advance.
Miris converts glTF assets so they can be rendered with advanced visual effects beyond what is available in real-time glTF viewers, such as higher-fidelity lighting and material appearance, without changing the source asset.
Once an asset is ingested, the platform’s adaptive streaming tailors delivery to each viewer’s device and connection, transmitting only the geometry and texture data needed in real time. Teams submit assets at the ideal fidelity and let delivery adapt, rather than decimating files in advance to fit a fixed size budget. Because Miris streams adaptively, a capable device and connection receive close to the full asset, while others get a lower-fidelity stream that refines as more data arrives. According to Miris, the authored detail is what gets delivered, and artists no longer have to create or maintain multiple stripped-down versions to hit different file-size budgets.
