FMX–Film & Media Exchange will be held April 23–26, 2024, in Stuttgart, Germany, with four days of on-site programming, supplemented by various on-demand presentations available from April 27 through May 31, 2024.
Serving as this year’s program chair is Solomon Rogers, global director of innovation at Magnopus. The theme of the 2024 conference is Connecting Ideas, a nod to the young media designers and others heading out to shape the future of the industry. To this end, this year’s FMX trailer is described as tiny bulb creatures interlinking with a lonely giant, illuminating the merit of collaboration. According to the site, the trailer originates from “World of Gra,” a story universe created by graduates of the Animationsinstitut at the Filmakademie Baden-Württemberg.
FMX was founded as an exchange fair for Filmakademie Baden-Wuerttemberg students. Now, 28 years later, it is globally recognized as a leading animation, effects, interactive, and immersive media conference. It features as many as 300 speakers each year comprising renowned artists and practitioners detailing their latest creative developments and productions. Attendees can also gain hands-on experience with the latest innovations at the FMX Forum, as well as at various workshops held during the event.
The program is still being finalized, but conference-goers can expect to hear about the impressive work on the latest talked-about films and episodics including Poor Things, Nimona, Leo, “The War Is Over,” the Percy Jackson series, and more.
Conference passes are on sale now, with early-bird discounts available through March 15.
