Studio built with industry tech contributions.
With the finishing touches now completed, NAB has opened its state-of-the-art media production facility at its Washington, DC, headquarters. The facility, which includes a studio and media hub, contains critical equipment and studio design services donated by leading content creation and management companies.
The studio’s centerpiece is a curved, 15-foot interactive LED video wall that can be used for live and pre-recorded programming. The space also contains robotic cameras and an edit suite capable of 8K postproduction.
The studio will be used by NAB to create national spots and branded educational content for its members. Productions will include digital stories for NAB’s trade shows and award programs, as well as other related work. External organizations can rent the studio, including staff, for original productions as well.
“As the premier trade association representing America’s radio and television broadcasters and as the producer of the world’s largest convention for media and entertainment, NAB has a critical need for advanced audio and video production capabilities,” said April Carty Sipp, executive vice president of Industry Affairs at NAB. “We are grateful for the generous support of the companies that contributed to the buildout of our new studio and media hub.”
Among the companies contributing to the new media production facility are: Planar, fine-pitch LED video wall; Angry Badger, scenic and lighting design, creative direction, production coordination services; Vitec Production Solutions, premium lighting and more; Barbizon Lighting, studio systems integration and lighting controls; Pesa, routing switching system; The Launch Group, broadcast video production and presentation technology, art direction, scenic design, entertainment and speaker sourcing, and more; Video Visions, audio-visual integration; Magis Media, video wall servers, lighting automation, and interactive storytelling solutions; and The Light Source, the MegaBatten connector strip.
