RE:Vision Effects released the original RezUp nearly three years ago for producing high-quality upscaling. Now, the company has improved on its video upscaling capabilities, releasing RezUp Version 2, with a pair of new machine learning models trained on Creative Commons images and some of the company’s own.

RezUp has two plug-ins, Enhance and Resize, for resolution enhancement (same dimension in and out) and upscaling/downscaling, respectively.

According to the company, RezUp is especially adept at quadrupling resolution—for instance, converting HD to 8K, where one input pixel becomes 16 output pixels.

RezUp v2 introduces two new 4x-capable upscaling models, which are compatible with AMD, Nvidia, and Apple Silicon GPUs, and are expected to work with Intel’s new Arc B60 discrete GPUs. The models are:

  • DNN 3 (Deep Neural Network method 3): A general-purpose model suitable for a wide range of content.
  • DNN 2: This model features specialized processing for faces, making it useful for close-up shots, preserving fine hair detail.

RezUp sells for $189.95; upgrade pricing is available.
