A few months ago, Autodesk showed off a research project its AI Lab was working on. Called Project Bernini, it can use many types of input, from a 2D image to voxels, text, or point clouds, for instance, and generate 3D shapes, albeit ones that have real-world functionality. Autodesk is looking at the advantages this technology would bring to its industry clouds, but that is easier said than done.
