Game AI software maker Xaitment offers source code to clients

Having source code access will allow licensees to speed development by debugging and customizing AI code for their game and simulation projects.

German developer Xaitment, creator of artificial intelligence software for video game and simulation developers, has made its source code available to all current and future US and European customers who license full versions of its AI software modules, xaitMap and xaitControl. The two products provide developers with libraries and graphical tools for NavMesh generation, pathfinding, movement, character behavioral modeling, and game logic. The availability of source code gives developers the added ability to more easily debug, optimize and customize the code, saving development time.

Xaitment is the only creator of AI development software that offers graphical editors. The downloadable source code is available at no extra charge for all platforms supported by Xaitment: Windows, Linux, Xbox360, and Sony PlayStation 3.

Xaitment says it was seeing an increased number of requests specific to game genres or platforms. “Offering source code with our AI software modules frees developers to customize our code in order to meet the specific needs of their unique projects,” says Thorsten Maier, Xaitment CTO.
