Chaos continues to evolve its ecosystem

Chaos

Chaos has announced the acquisition of EvolveLab, which brings new AI tools for visualization, generative design, documentation, and interoperability into the Chaos AEC ecosystem, the industry’s only end-to-end hub for design and visualization. This is Chaos’ fourth merger/acquisition in the last three years following Enscape, AXYZ Design, and Cylindo. Chaos’ mission, according to the company, is to offer a platform where architects and designers can move from concept to automated documentation without having to use a host of disconnected tools.

AI is fast becoming an important part of the AEC landscape, and Chaos is more intent than ever to expand its presence in this direction. Chaos is a proven entity in the DCC realm and in the AEC world, moving the ball forward with major technological advances and partnerships and acquisitions. This week, the company announced that it has acquired EvolveLab, which develops AI software for streamlining visualization, generative design, documentation, and interoperability for AEC professionals.

With this acquisition, Chaos bolsters design-to-visualization workflows, with the company claiming to be the AEC industry’s only end-to-end hub for design and visualization. The move also brings more AEC tools into its fold—critical tools for BIM automation, AI-driven ideation, and computational design.

Designed to make workflows more efficient and effective, the EvolveLab tools seamlessly connect concept ideation, real-time visualization, photorealistic rendering, generative design, and automated AI documentation. As a result, users no longer need multiple disconnected tools in their arsenal.

According to Chaos, EvolveLab was the first to integrate generative AI into architectural modeling software. EvolveLab’s flagship Veras AI-powered visualization app extends the marriage of imagination and 3D geometry to BIM offerings including SketchUp, Revit, Rhinoceros, and Vectorworks, as well as smart documentation and generative design with its Glyph Revit plug-in and Morphis data-driven generative design app for Revit, respectively.

“With EvolveLab now part of Chaos, the company solidifies its position as the go-to platform for architects, designers, and VFX artists looking to seamlessly transform imagination into reality,” said Stephan Sieber, chief executive officer at Chaos.

Sieber says Chaos and EvolveLab plan to continue developing these tools and integrate their products. In the meantime, EvolveLab products will remain available to customers. EvolveLab CEO Bill Allen adds that by joining forces, they will be able to fast-track their AI developments, while adding a new component to Chaos’ immersive design hub.

As a result of the acquisition, the EvolveLab team will join Chaos, with Allen as director of product management and EvolveLab CTO Ben Guler as director of software development.

Chaos users are not unfamiliar with Veras, using it along with Enscape (whose owners merged with Chaos in 2022) to accelerate design and review. Users are able to rapidly generate ideas in Veras before committing the design to BIM, where they can then use Enscape’s real-time rendering and visualization capabilities. During client reviews, Enscape visuals can quickly be enhanced or stylized using Veras’ AI generative tools.
