Autodesk’s first CAM product steps beyond its SolidWorks origins.
Last October Autodesk responded to years of requests from its user base for a computer-aided machining (CAM) application compatible with Autodesk Inventor by buying HSMWorks Aps, the Danish developer best known for HSMWorks for SolidWorks. Autodesk has continued to support the SolidWorks users it inherited in the acquisition, to the point of holding a user group meeting in Orlando this January immediately following SolidWorks World.
Now Autodesk has taken the next step, this week releasing a public beta test version of the technology for Inventor. Now called Autodesk Inventor HSM Express, the new product is designed to integrate into Inventor while providing the traditional HSMWorks experience. The Express product is designed for 2 ½ axis milling.
