The 47th international conference and exhibition on computer graphics and interactive techniques has kicked off virtually. Due to the COVID-19 outbreak, the decision to move Siggraph 2020 to a virtual conference format was taken in April 2020. The theme of the conference this year is ‘Think Beyond.’ And the theme has taken a new meaning as the conference has gone virtual with the hopes to carry the legacy of innovation with on-demand presentations, live-streamed events, and scheduled sessions. At the media briefing this week, we were just overwhelmed by loads of content of different variety that is being presented at the conference from August 17 to August 28. The full Siggraph Committee that made it possible is listed here. Siggraph is truly a celebration of diversity!
The virtual Siggraph 2020 conference is being hosted on the Hubb virtual event platform, in addition to other platform partners for registration, live streaming, and the Computer Animation Festival Electronic Theater. On-demand content is available from August 17. The participants can explore, learn, and connect without a guided schedule. Then, in the second week of the conference, starting 24 August, the Electronic Theater, Real-Time Live!, and other scheduled, interactive sessions will kick-off. The participants can access most of the programs through October 27, 2020.

For its Technical Papers program, Siggraph 2020 received 443 submissions, out of which 163 research projects from 24 countries were selected. Siggraph Technical Papers program sets the tone for forthcoming trends in visual computing. This year’s selections show trends of wide spreading deep learning and use of 2D graphics for things like icons, sketches, diagrams, and strokes.
Technical Paper video presentations will be available on-demand from August 17 to August 23. The registered participants can watch presentations at their ease and discuss the topics in Q&A sessions, scheduled from August 24 to August 28.
