Simplifying large, detailed CAD models

Simplifying a model

CoreTechnologie has updated its 3D Evolution Simplifier software, which does what the name implies: simplifies. Specifically, the new envelope geometry tool automatically reduces large, complex 3D model geometry, extracting important information from CAD data. As a result, optimized model preparation for digital catalogs or simulation software can be made without time-consuming manual processing.

V4.8 of the software removes internal geometries and generates extremely reduced models at high processing speeds for maximum performance in CAD, virtual reality, and digital mock-up applications. The technology performs rule-based data reduction and the naming of components and assemblies using the attributes in the CAD data. Within seconds, the Simplifier deletes small parts, finds identical parts, and creates reduced assemblies with significantly fewer elements.

The Shrinkwrap function automatically filters only components visible from the outside, while internal bodies that are non-visible are removed within seconds. The balloon function enables targeted selection of the components of an interior that are visible from the inside.

Simplifier supports 36 CAD formats, including Catia, NX, Creo, SolidWorks, Inventor, Step, JT, IFC, FBX, and OBJ, and integrates into any system environment, the company says.
