The Ryzen 7 9850X3D rises

AMD and Nvidia have been considered competitors for years. When it comes to wearing the mantle of having the world’s fastest gaming processor, AMD, of late, has been competing against itself for that honor. In 2022, it was the AMD 5800X3D with 3D V-Cache that earned that processor the title, followed a year later by the 7800X3D. And then, AMD’s second-gen 3D V-Cache-equipped 9800X3D, released late last year, was lauded for offering another significant performance leap.

But, that processor held the top spot for mere months—until the flagship Ryzen 9 9950X3D came along. Now, the 9850X3D looks to take the throne.

JPR’s sister publication BabelTechReviews put these processors to the test with a comprehensive review that has the 9850X3D competing against the 9800X3D and the 9950X3D in various benchmark scenarios.

The review provides a synopsis of each processor, which includes, among other information, number of cores and threads, as well as price. The main attraction, though,  are the benchmark details and the test results.

If you are curious about how the 9850X3D fared and writer Mark Poppin’s overall assessment, the review can be found here.
