The Intuos Pro gets a new look

Intuos Pro

Wacom has become a leading name when it comes to pen tablets. Its Intuos Pro has been a mainstay for content creators for years. Although updates to the device have been frequent, the latest one has resulted in a new redesign. The new Intuos Pro (2025) comes in three sizes, all with a slimmer form factor, larger drawing area, more accurate pen performance, more intuitive workflow support, and other features.

Wacom may not have been the first company to launch a tablet-like device with stylus input (you have to go back decades for that), but once it arrived in the mid-1980s, the company quickly became the dominant player in this market segment. For years now, Wacom Intuos Pro pen tablets have been a mainstay for professional content creators, providing them with a device that supports, not hinders, their creative workflow—whether they are sketching, editing photos, or performing a myriad of other creative tasks. Intuos Pro products have also become popular within the business sector, making it easier and more intuitive for tasks like note-taking, preparing presentations, data interaction, and so much more.

The devices are often found in animation and VFX studios and schools, as well as in offices and casual settings, with the flagship Intuos Pro targeted at the professional user.

Over the years, Wacom has upgraded and improved its offerings, including the graphics tablets, software, and pens. This includes the Intuos Pro, which has been redesigned from the inside out for greater efficiency and more intuitive workflow.

The Intuos Pro (2025) features Wacom’s most advanced pen tablet technology. It uses the Wacom Pro Pen 3, which is also used in Cintiq Pro displays. The Pro Pen 3 is customizable to each artist’s preferences and does not require batteries or charging. The grip has programmable buttons for shortcuts and includes interchangeable grips and buttons that can be reconfigured to fit the user’s needs. The pen also comes with two different nibs, including a rubber one that is slip-resistant.

Inside, the device has a new chipset for added performance, and on the outside, a slimmed-down form factor compared to previous generations. Also, the software has been revamped for increased precision and accuracy. And, the ExpressKeys and touch buttons have been moved to the top of the tablet to complement the person’s keyboard setup and make it more accommodating for left- and right-handed users. In addition, two dials have been added to the medium and large versions (and one to the small version), providing tactile feedback.

As noted above, the new Intuos Pro comes in three sizes, all of which have a larger drawing area at a 16:9 ratio to match today’s display sizes. Despite the increased active area, the overall size of all three tablets is smaller and slimmer than past generations, making it easier for travel, while the thinner profile supports more fluid hand and write motions. The small size weighs approximately 8 ounces (about 240 g) with a dimension of 215 mm x 163 mm (about 8.5 inches x 6.4 inches) and has an active area of 187 mm x 105 mm (about 7.4 inches x 4.1 inches. The medium and large tablets are designed for artists who prefer a larger canvas or who manage workflows across several monitors.

All models are Bluetooth-enabled with a wireless operating time of up to 16 hours. Artists can connect up to three devices: one wired device using a USB, and two wireless devices, and they can toggle between devices using a mechanical switch on the tablet.

The Intuos Pro works with both Windows and Mac operating systems and with nearly all creative applications. For those who prefer a pencil-like feel or thicker barrel, Wacom has partnered with several pen manufacturers for a broad range of styluses that will work without additional setup.

Pricing for the Intuos Pro is $249.95 for the small, $379.95 for the medium, and $499.95 for the large device.
