At Chaos Innovation Labs, they are shaking things up in virtual production. Game engines have played a vital role in the virtual production workflow, providing users with a way to link the physical camera with the virtual camera for real-time feedback. Currently,

Chaos Innovation Lab is working on a solution that will eliminate the need for a game engine in this process. Called Project Arena, the toolkit uses the Chaos Vantage renderer for real-time ray tracing within a virtual production volume—directly from an artist’s DCC software, including 3ds Max, Maya, or Houdini, without requiring some type of conversion process. Still in development, Project Arena is undergoing rigorous testing this year. The company expects it to be commercially available in 2025.
