Maxon makes a splash with wave of updates

Maxon One

Continuing with its cyclical updates of its Maxon One suite offering, Maxon has released a number of tools and enhancements across the various applications. From the long-awaited arrival of ZModeler on ZBrush for iPad to advanced spline tools and simulation capabilities in Cinema 4D, these updates provide users with added flexibility and control.

Maxon’s Maxon One has received a refresh, with an update that includes a plethora of new tools designed to increase artist efficiency. Hundreds of new features and capabilities have been added to the Maxon One product suite spanning ZBrush for desktop and iPad, Red Giant, Maxon Studio, Cinema 4D, Redshift, and Cineware.

ZBrush for Desktop and iPad

ZBrush for iPad now includes expanded toolsets and seamless desktop integration for mobile content creation. Among the highlights is the availability of the ZModeler tool on ZBrush for iPad, complete with an all-new UI, resulting in advanced polygonal modeling capabilities on the go. Additionally, the desktop version received major updates, including new presets, improved Insert Edge Loop snapping controls, and an enhanced selection mode.

Nanomesh is now supported on iPad, enabling users to populate mesh polygons seamlessly with one or more models seamlessly, making it easier than ever to generate intricate game and VFX assets.

Maxon says it is continuing to focus on seamless workflow between ZBrush and Cinema 4D for a smooth pipeline between mobile and desktop workflows. In Maxon’s continuing effort to offer desktop features on the iPad version, UV Master offers a simple, one-click solution for unwrapping 3D models, making UV mapping more accessible. This tool enhances workflows by enabling seamless use of surface noise, texture maps, IMM brushes with UVs, and displacement mapping for detailed

Red Giant for DaVinci Resolve

In this update, Maxon has expanded its support for DaVinci Resolve with new tools for editors and colorists, including Real Lens Flares and Optical Glow, to easily stylize projects. Other highlights include the addition of Magic Bullet Looks forprofessional-grade color correction and filmic styles, and the Universe Toolkit, a collection of video effects, creative transitions, and stylized elements such as VHS and Bokeh.

Maxon Studio

More than 100 new fully customizable motion graphics and effects templates are available in Adobe After Effects, including optimized vertical layouts for social media content. New Maxon Studio Capsules, created by artist Andy Needham, offer users customizable templates that accelerate stylish motion-design workflows. There are also new vertical templates for social video that include pre-built layouts optimized for TikTok, Instagram reels, and YouTube shorts.

Cinema 4D 

Cinema 4D delivers new spline tools and enhanced simulation capabilities for next-level motion graphics, enabling artists to achieve complex, dynamic effects with more control than ever before. Users can generate and manipulate splines with advanced animation capabilities, ideal for motion graphics and typography. Also, refined physics-based effects and improved particle systems provide greater realism and efficiency.

RedShift

In this update,Maxon continues to expand Redshift’s versatility with key updates that enhance rendering workflows across multiple applications. Specific highlights include:

  • Redshift OpenPBR support that expands compatibility with industry-standard OpenPBR materials, while maintaining Redshift’s renowned rendering speed.
  • Material graph baking for Cinema 4D Viewport that enhances material previews, allowing artists to fine-tune textures before rendering.
  • In SideFX Houdini, per-point attributes are now interpolated into smooth gradients on hair curves, making it easier to create complex multi-color strands and hair dye designs.
  • In both Houdini and Autodesk Maya, the USD procedural enables pipeline assets to be easily instanced—now with support for USD overrides to easily swap assets.
  • Automatic conversion of Chaos V-Ray and Corona materials in Autodesk 3ds Max, making it easier for arch-vis and product vis artists to utilize Redshift without re-creating their existing material libraries.
  • Extended Redshift support enables high-quality concept renders directly from ZBrush for enhanced visualization.

Cineware for Unreal Engine

Cineware for Unreal enables seamless transfer to Unreal Engine, now with complete support for rigged and animated characters. With this, users can bring Cinema 4D scenes into Unreal Engine with a streamlined, artist-friendly workflow. Also, they are able to import assets, materials, lighting, and animations with fewer steps, and transfer fully rigged characters and skeletal animations with ease. Moreover, artists now can craft immersive game environments and cinematic sequences with minimal setup time.
