Leopoly has introduced an updated version of its Shapelab 2025 VR 3D modeling software. Included in the update is the addition of voxel sculpting tools.

Leopoly, makers of Shapelab, a VR 3D design application primarily for organic modeling, has released a new update the 2025 version of its virtual reality sculpting software. The spring update introduces new tools and enhancements designed to streamline the creative workflow for artists, designers, and VR creators. One of the more significant updates include the addition of voxel sculpting tools.

With this update, Shapelab has introduced the first official integration of voxel-based modeling tools. While still a work in progress, these features are y functional and valuable, the company says, laying the groundwork for hybrid workflows that combine the structural precision of polygon meshes with the fluid sculptability of voxels.

Shapelab continues to be primarily a polygon mesh-based modeling tool, as the robust polygon-based engine and feature set allows for creating high-quality props, characters, and concepts. However, voxels now represent a secondary engine—enhancing creative versatility, especially for sketching, blockouts, and early ideation. This dual-system approach is designed to empower artists with more freedom and flexibility as their projects evolve.

Other enhancements in the Shapelab 2025 spring update include:

• Sculpt Cursor Repositioning—Enables easy adjustment of the sculpting cursor for a more natural feel.
• Quick Switch—Allows instant selection of any object/layer and the ability to jump into Edit Mode in one seamless action, combining scene navigation, object selection, and editing without breaking flow.
• Cavity Masking—A new surface curvature-aware masking for selectively targeting cavities or bumps.
• Brush Falloff Curves—Users can choose from multiple falloff curves to fine-tune their brush stroke behavior.
• Enhancements to the Quick Access Pie Menu—The Quick Access menu can be customized with even more of the user’s favorite tools and actions.
