World’s first AR and VR capable smartphone—ZenFone AR

Dive into VR and AR environments with ZenFone AR.

The new ZenFone AR by Asus offers consumers a smartphone that provides an augmented reality (AR) and virtual reality (VR) experience. By utilizing Google’s Tango and Daydream technologies, users will be able to experience and witness detailed environments and objects through their smartphone. The ZenFone AR is officially the world’s first smartphone to utilize both technologies.

Google’s Tango is an augmented reality platform that utilizes GPS sensors to determine the time and space in which you are currently residing. The platform allows for users to superimpose 3D objects in the spaces they occupy by utilizing depth perception, motion tracking, and area learning. All sorts of games are compatible with this technology, creating an environment and experience that differs from person to person. Who wouldn’t want to play a racing game while simultaneously overlooking Manhattan?

Google’s Daydream VR experience combines the ZenFone AR with Google’s Daydream View head mounted display, or HMD, as well a motion controller. With these assorted technologies combined, users should expect to see displays at a resolution of up to 2560 × 1440 on its 5.7-inch display.
